At United Way, we believe everyone should have access to safe, affordable, healthy food. The reality is from suburban West Milford to urban Passaic, 1 in 10 residents in Passaic County struggle with hunger and making ends meet. Families must decide whether to pay the bills or buy food for the children. Parents skip meals so they can feed their children, seniors choose between buying medicine and food, and students decide between their education and food. These tough choices are an unfortunate reality for many of our neighbors which has a significant impact on their overall health and well-being. The good news is that we can win the fight against hunger when we work together.
Join us this #GivingTuesday, as we hold a virtual food drive to support food pantries in Passaic County. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for our neighbors on #GivingTuesday – November 27. We are partnering with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ), the state’s largest anti-hunger organization and the major supplier for food pantries. For every dollar raised, CFBNJ will provide $8 worth of groceries for hungry families in Passaic County!
We are also thrilled to announce that Facebook and PayPal are partnering with nonprofits this #GivingTuesday and have pledged to match up to $7 Million of donations given on Facebook on November 27th. Help us leverage this opportunity by donating on our Facebook page. You can also create your own fundraising page and share with your friends! Be sure to link to our Facebook page so that every dollar collected will go towards feeding families, individuals and seniors in Passaic County. No one should go hungry. Let’s fight hunger together!
