Every year on or about June 21, United Ways around the globe bring communities together to will bring people and organizations together to fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community. Activities will range from online advocacy and small-group, single-day events to large-scale, communitywide programs at multiple locations.
At United Way of Passaic County, we are hosting a “Stay Fit. Stay Smart.” Stuff the Bag event. Children living in poverty often lack literacy-rich environments outside of school and have no books at home. During the summer, students can lose what they’ve learned the previous year if they are not engaged in classes, recreation, cultural or camp experiences. United Way is partnering with others in our community to ensure our students have what they need to stay fit and stay smart all summer long.
Here is how you can be involved:
Join us Thursday, June 14, 2018—we will be packing 2500 bags to encourage students to keep reading and to stay active, stay healthy all summer long. These bags will be packed with books, pencils, healthy activities, healthy snacks and sports gear. Bags will be distributed to children most in need throughout the Passaic County - at summer meal sites in Paterson and Passaic and at local libraries.
Unite with businesses, community groups and individuals to create summer bags for children to encourage learning and healthy activities throughout the summer months! Sign up below to reserve your spot today! A $10 fee includes a t-shirt, refreshments and supports a great cause—keeping students healthy and literate throughout the summer months!
